Viagra with lexapro

sir I had been using lexapro with my antipsychotic and lost my sexual drive due to ssri. i have discountinued lexapro. how much time will it take to regain my sexuall good feeling.

I know 3 people personally that are taking Lexapro and all 3 say it works fine, with the exception of no sex drive for which they take viagra. Also they take a 3rd medication because of the side effects of the viagra. Seems like a lot of meds to me. They suffered from depression. However, I have never been clinically depressed and usually I feel fine. My problem was insomnia due to working 7pm to 7am overnight shifts with lots of overtime.

I asked if it causes weight gain and he said no. But since he said the same with lexapro. I am concerned. I can't afford to gain more weight. I'm 5'2" and up to 140 now and nothing fits. Its making me more depressed! Am I more likely to gain weight with the Effexor again? I really wish there was something that could work without these side effects. When I was on Lexapro I felt the best I've ever felt in my life but the side effects were hurting my marriage and self esteem.

There can be sexual side effects with SSRIs like Lexapro. I have never taken Viagra. so I would not be able to really share an experience with it. Taking an SSRI, usually does have some side effects and the benefits often have to be weighed with them. You are definitely doing the right thing, in my opinion, by working through this with your doctor.

I could argue, in fact, the the first drug ever legally created from the get-go with a recreational purpose in mind is Viagra. Odd, when you think about it: whereas the drugs we call "recreational" are taken with the intent of creating an altered state of awareness or consiousness which we could not create on our own, the Viagra is intended to let us be the way we know we CAN be on our own -or once were.

And already i'm having the same problem i've had in the past with anti depressants. Lexapro prozak paxil ect. Are the meds to counter this? Levitra? Viagra? I have no problem with erections. Does this effect wear off? Do i need to switch meds. This has the potential to be very embarrassing for me. Please help.

If you feel Lexapro is more effective in controlling your symptoms, you may want to continue treatment with that rather than Zoloft, although Lexapro will also effect your sex drive. Your doctor, along with your input, have to decide whether the benefits of the medications outweigh the side effects. There are also additional steps you may take to assist in your sexual performance such as Viagra, although that will not increase your sex drive(the desire to have sex).

I have been under medical care for Bi-Polar Disorder since 1997. I used to enjoy sex. I have been totally uninterested in sex for several years now. It makes it very difficult for my spouse. I should add that the week before withdrawal, I was mistakenly cutting the Wellbutrin XL tablets in half and taking them all at once with the Lexapro. This happened for 6 days before my Physicians Assistant told me my mistake, that cutting XL tablets releases them immediately. During the six days I had heart palpitations, was sweaty, nauseous, anxiety, and felt terrible. I was essentially overdosing on the Wellbutrin combined with lexapro.

You are only 22 and have just started your adult wonderful experiences with sex. Try everything you can. And, viagra works for women too although not advertised often.

My husband was recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder and has been on Lexapro and Abilify (different doses) for the last 7 months. The doctor is adjusting the doses, but it seems that my husband has lost his drive for sex and for much of anything. He is depressed. I am not a doctor but I have to say, with all the check-ups you've had, I'd say it is panic disorder. Even if they seem to come out of nowhere, they can still be caused by stress (you may not realize you are stressed but life-changes, work, school, etc. can cause this), caffeine (or energy drinks), smoking, medications like Adderall (amphetamine salts) or anything that is stimulating. The curious thing is, I have panic disorder and I take Lexapro, Klonopin and Adderall.

Although AD's tend to have nasty effects on people with BP they can be used in conjunction with mood stabilizers, although there are some that through experience a lot of people would say they haven't got along with either on or off MS - such as prozac. MAO's are still in use and tend to be given when all SSRI's have been tried to no avail.

Not everyone responds to drugs such as Prozac, Zoloft, Lexapro. and other antidepressants with a lower occurance of withdrawl effect. Do I think Effexor or any SNRI drug should be used as a first line antidepressant? No way.

When the doc augmented the Remeron with Celexa, it helped with the premature ejaculation but killed my desire even more. We are stumped as to how to get my desire back while also getting rid of this premature ejaculation problem. I am about to suggest going back on 25 mg Zoloft with a bit of Wellbutrin (while staying on Rememeron), although we have been trying to avoid the anxiety from meds like this, and my doctor thinks the zoloft (or any other ssri) will kill my sex drive even more.

I have been having more fun daily, trying to lower my stress level and more intimate time with my wife. Asperin is like low cost Viagra just kidding.

What is this medicine?

ESCITALOPRAM is used to treat depression and certain types of anxiety.

What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:
bipolar disorder or a family history of bipolar disorder
diabetes
heart disease
kidney or liver disease
receiving electroconvulsive therapy
seizures (convulsions)
suicidal thoughts, plans, or attempt by you or a family member
an unusual or allergic reaction to escitalopram, the related drug citalopram, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
pregnant or trying to become pregnant
breast-feeding

How should I use this medicine?

Take this medicine by mouth with a glass of water. You can take it with or without food. If it upsets your stomach, take it with food. Take your medicine at regular intervals. Do not take it more often than directed. Do not stop taking except on your doctor's advice.

Talk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed.

Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.

What if I miss a dose?

What should I watch for while using this medicine?

Patients and their families should watch out for worsening depression or thoughts of suicide. Also watch out for sudden or severe changes in feelings such as feeling anxious, agitated, panicky, irritable, hostile, aggressive, impulsive, severely restless, overly excited and hyperactive, or not being able to sleep. If this happens, especially at the beginning of treatment or after a change in dose, call your health care professional.

If you have been taking this medicine regularly for some time, do not stop taking it suddenly. You must gradually reduce the dose, or your symptoms may get worse. Ask your doctor or health care professional for advice.

You may get drowsy or dizzy. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs mental alertness until you know how this medicine affects you. Do not stand or sit up quickly, especially if you are an older patient. This reduces the risk of dizzy or fainting spells. Alcohol may interfere with the effect of this medicine. Avoid alcoholic drinks.

Do not treat yourself for coughs, colds, or allergies without asking your doctor or health care professional for advice. Some ingredients can increase possible side effects.

Your mouth may get dry. Chewing sugarless gum or sucking hard candy, and drinking plenty of water may help. Contact your doctor if the problem does not go away or is severe.
